Ricoh product launch opens with a smile
Ricoh Australia wasn’t clowning around when it launched the new Pro C751 colour light-production series to the industry professionals at a function at Sydney’s Luna Park, with three customers already lined up.
Originally due for release months ago, Ricoh had to push back the launch of its new series when the Japan earthquake hit the production facility.
According to Kathy Wilson, general manager of business solutions and production at Ricoh Australia, when printers use colour to communicate with impact there are some required fundamentals such as accurate colours, alignment and quality reproduction of fine details.
“The technology is what enables us to be able to do all these things, whether it be the hardware or software. But just as important as the technology are the support and services, that is particularly important if this is a new part of your business,” she says.

The new series is Ricoh’s first production system capable of overprinting envelopes for short run work of 500 to 1,000. It also carries over the wallpaper printing application from the Pro C901, timed nicely with Xmas on its way.
In his ‘Let’s Do Lunch’ presentation on communicating with impact through print, Ricoh’s national BDM, Mark Katrakis says traditional print has always been put down as the benchmark; it’s the quality that everybody has tried to attain.
“Through digital print these days, the difference between that benchmark and what these machines can produce now is pretty much identical. That allows people to make a choice, that choice in digital means you can print what you want when you need it, or less if they need it for prints of one,” he says.
