Ricoh rises to the challenge for SOS Print and Media
Installation of Ricoh’s Pro C900 improves productivity for SOS Print and Media.
The Sydney-based company, which claims to be Australia’s largest digital print-on-demand provider, purchased the machine to handle overflow from their Xeikon 5000 press.
Michael Schulz, director of SOS Print and Media (pictured) is pleased with the machine’s results since installation. “We have been very happy with the workload and ability of the Pro C900. The device is dependable in its ability to offer maximum uptime while also demonstrating high accuracy in repeatable colour jobs,” he said.

In its first three months onsite the Ricoh Pro C900 at SOS has processed 300,000 impressions, including colour books, covers, flyers, short run colour, variable data and mail-outs.
It was a trip to Print 09 last September in Chicago, that cliched the deal for Schulz, who saw the machine in action. “Although they are a reasonably new player to the digital production market, we saw their engine capability and service offering as a good fit for our digital print requirements,” he added.
Kathy Wilson, Ricoh Australia’s general manager of production and business solutions, believes the machine will enhance the company’s capabilities. “SOS’s workload requires maximum uptime and consistent colour continuity. The Ricoh Pro C900 sits in a unique position against its competitors and SOS's requirements are well suited for the device,” she said.
