RoadShow showcases environmental opportunities for printers

The RoadShow will include ten regional launches of new the Department of Environment and Conservation NSW (DEC)’s publication Environmental Action for the Printing Industry, a joint project between Printing Industries NSW and. DEC.

The project’s centrepiece features the new printing industry specific guide with ten information sheets to help business improve their environmental performance and take advantage of the efficiency and profit opportunities that can result.

Printing Industries NSW state general manager, Robert Fuller, said the Association had worked closely with DEC in the development of the publication and the supporting checklists.

“In addition to our initial project development advice, we provided DEC with access to our own Environmental Management Manual which is referred to throughout the publication, and to our environmental consultancy which helped DEC complete the project,” he said.

“The guide will be distributed for free during the RoadShow. It contains a ‘useful tools’ section that helps companies to develop their own environmental management tools such as checklists and action plans.

“It also contains an environmental self assessment checklist with the types of questions that an officer from a local council or the Environmental Protection Agency could ask when visiting your premises. DEC and Printing Industries intend to compliment the information provided in the RoadShow with a half day training course on how to implement the action plans and to gain the most from them.”

The information sheets will be freely available on the DEC’s web site after the RoadShow.

The RoadShow will also be the major platform to launch the range of new products and services that will be available for members this year. “A great deal of members took time out at the busiest time of the year in December to complete our first comprehensive Membership Survey for many years, so it is vital that we provide them with feedback on the results and get their opinions,” Mr Fuller said.

“Members will also be keen to know how the industry is travelling at the moment, so we’ll give them the economic comparatives from the last quarter, and then our forecast for the next six months. It’s going to be a value-packed, full-on session at each RoadShow, aided by a number of key sponsors talking to members about their new products and services.”
