Robert Gatto leads Kayell into the future
Retirement of long-time managing director, Johan du Preez, sees management restructure at Kayell Australia.
Johan du Preez, who will exit the company in October this year, acquired Kayell Australia in 1999 and oversaw its transformation from a pro photographic supplier into a digital imaging and media company servicing all levels of the imaging and graphic arts chain has passed on the role of managing director to Robert Gatto, who previous headed up sales and marketing.
Gatto takes the reins as managing director from the start of July. Joining the Kayell team if well-known Andreas Johansson, who moves across from his role as business development manager of Epson’s prographics division.

Both these appointments mean that when du Preez moves on, he can do so knowing that Kayell rests in good hands. “I can rest easy in the knowledge that, under Rob Gatto’s leadership and with an excellent new shareholder/director in Andreas Johansson, the company is sure to grow and prosper,” he said.
In his 20-year career, Johansson (pictured) has worked in print production, technical support and marketing. He admits that the chance to join Kayell is not an opportunity that comes along often. “I am especially looking forward to working with the team at Kayell Australia and serving our existing and new customers with high professional standards and leading technologies,” he said.
Gatto is also confident of Kayell Australia’s future and looks forward to guiding the company ahead. “I am delighted that John will stay on until the end of October to ensure a smooth transition, and also that Andreas Johansson is joining us as both a colleague and shareholder,” he said. “Kayell’s forty-year history is assured of many more years of service, prosperity and growth.”
