Sydney-based label printer is thrown a life-line by Kirwan’s Foxcil after an agreement was reached with liquidators, Jirsch Sutherland, to keep the business operating and most of the staff employed.
Well-known industry identity, Kirwan, managing director, Foxcil, confirmed that the majority of Brookvale company’s production and sales staff will be back on board with his new company to be known simply as ‘Roller Poster’ today. The business was shuttered when liquidators were appointed two weeks ago, but Kirwan confirms it’s now back to “business as usual.
Roller Post will remain as an independent company, with Antonin Dvorak staying on as General Manager. Kirwan’s Foxil is a close neighbour in the northern Sydney suburb. “My first concern has been with all the employees of The Roller Poster Company. They have had a terrible couple of weeks. I am very pleased and proud of the fact that we have been able to save the majority of the employees’ jobs.
The administration and back office functions of Foxcil and Roller Poster will be immediately centralised and shared between the two businesses.
The two companies operate in different market and with different technologies. Kirwan is a long-term fan of Xeikon digital printing technology having installed the first machine in the region at Kiwi Labels. Following his time with GEON, when he launched out on his own with Foxcil in 2012 he bought a Xeikon 3030, “based on my experience.” It feeds into a Smag printing and converting line.
On the other hand Post Roller is a conventional flexo company operating a VK Simon press.
“Roller Poster’s equipment is tried and tested, and the operators are true craftsmen with knowledge and expertise that is extremely impressive. I am personally looking forward to be back involved with Flexographic printing which an area of print I have greatly enjoyed in the past,” said Kirwan.
