Roland 50 debuts at drupa

Size isn't everything according to MAN Roland who will present its sheetfed Roland 50 press at drupa.

In a move away from large format, the breakthrough release sees MAN Roland expand its product range with the 36/52 format, now also serving A3 printers.

"The international market in 36/52 is bigger than the market for large format presses," explained Dr Markus Rall, member of the executive board, business sector sheetfed presses.

The Roland 50 was designed with the strategy of value added printing in mind. As a result, MAN Roland can now offer its customers a universal press platform encompassing formats from 36/52 through to XXL.

Klemens Kemmerer, director of research and development at MAN Roland said that the Roland 50 encapsulates the elements of large format presses on a smaller scale. "For many years, further development of smaller presses was also a case of thinking in small categories," he said.

"We wanted to integrate the quality features of our large presses into the Roland 50 and open up new perspectives for printers in the 36/52 format class."

Australia and New Zealand are ideal markets for the Roland 50, according to Markus Haefeli, CEO of MAN Roland, Australia.  "This press is a perfect fit for our market in Australia and New Zealand and we will be pursuing this sector of the market with vigour," he said. "It is a great addition to our existing press range."
