Saphira Eco for a greener print run
Saphira Eco, Heidelberg’s new green initiative brand of eco-friendly consumables for prepress, press and postpress makes its way to the local market.
Saphira Eco consumables make it simpler for customers to obtain certification under the main Eco certificates such as, UePia, EU; Ecologo, USA; Ecolabelling Trust, NZ, AP, EE & NA).
Bill Wall, general manager of consumables at Heidelberg ANZ says its new Saphira Eco brand recognises there is a “growing demand of ecological awareness and that our customers want to either create or improve their green footprint.
“We are offering the Eco brand to meet this green consciousness. Saphira Eco is a Heidelberg Consumables Head Office initiative being promoted across the company worldwide. All products have been developed to meet a strict Saphira Eco environmental standard.
“The benefits are that customers are able to switch their production to environmentally friendly Eco consumables without any unnecessarily changing their production requirements. The new products will boost their environmental image and enable them to have a point of difference in the market.
Heidelberg Australia will review the accredited Saphira Eco products and determine which products are suitable to meet the high standards set by its customers that want to improve or create a greener image.
“With our current range of consumables we will determine which products fit the Saphira Eco standard by passing a five-step evaluation process.”
Saphira Eco products:
- Are based on renewable raw materials and/or are recyclable
- Are free of SVHC (CMR, PBT, vPvB) as per REACh
- Exhibit much lower emission values than comparable products
- Originate from ISO 9001/14001 certified manufacturers
- Meet or sometimes even exceed applicable statutory requirements and industrial performance standards

- Fewer ammonia, dust and noise emissions
