High-profile Japanese ink manufacturer is restructuring its Australian operations, getting out of direct representation but continuing to concentrate on ink manufacturing at its Kilsyth factory approximately 35 kms east of the Melbourne in the Dandenongs.

It has appointed one of Australia's largest specialist printing blanket converters, Servicom Pacific, as its new distributor to the industry. This is the first move into ink supply for Servicom, which will see it operate in a much larger market in addition to the range of printing consumables it has traditionally supplied.

In a statement the ink company said, Toyo’s expertise has always been in the Technical excellence of ink manufacturing this will continue to be our focus and to best serve our clients we have appointment Servicom Pacific as Australian Distributor which will provide our clients with a seamless supplier of ink, printing blanket, chemicals and press room consumable products.

In addressing concerns about continuing customer support it said, Toyo Ink is currently working with Servicom Pacific to establish the enhanced structure by which Servicom Pacific will support our Australian customers, including the continuation of the current high standard of technical support currently being provided by Toyo personnel. This structure will be finalised , announced and in place by mid next week.

The company claims there will be little employment loss in the supply chain with only a small number of individuals affected by the switch.

Toyo Ink is one of the big four ink suppliers to the industry, and one of the three largest manufacturers in the world. In Australia in 2005 it undertook a major upgrade to its manufacturing capacity.
