Snap hub achieves Heidelberg speed

Western Australia’s 21 Snap franchises are lining up to take advantage of the new Speedmaster Anicolor SM52-4 press installed at the franchise’s Perth’s hub.

The Osborne Park-based facility relies on the latest technology to produce the 1,700 plus jobs that pass through each month, Michael Banton, CEO of Snap Printing Hub WA, said.

“We produce both offset and digital print and the Anicolor fits into our workflow brilliantly. I am truly amazed at how much the press has already impacted productivity. We have realized a 35% productivity gain already, and that’s being conservative. Make ready is completed in five sheets compared to 100 on our previous press.

“The time savings alone are impressive, but when you factor what we are saving on stock costs, waste and energy it doesn’t take long to see the benefits of this technology are both fiscal and ecological,” he said.

Banton believes the speed and quality achievable with the Anicolor press will enable the franchises to accelerate growth. “There is no other press like the Anicolor, it is so far ahead of anything else on the market. It has definitely exceeded expectations and we are extremely pleased with our decision,” said Banton (pictured .

The Anicolor press installations across Australia and New Zealand have been hugely successful, according to Lindsay Barnes, general manager of product management at Heidelberg ANZ. He says most customers have achieved a 50% rise in productivity, which is 20% higher than Heidelberg’s official statistics on this press.

“Combining the productivity savings with a 90% reduction in waste and 50% reduction in make ready and it is easy to see how the Anicolor technology has closed the gap between digital and offset printing allowing print companies to deliver high quality offset products at more competitive price points.

“Customers are telling us that the Anicolor press has quickly become their most productive and profitable press reflecting the experience of the Snap Printing Hub in WA,” said Barnes.
