Southern Colour kicks off Heidelberg press installation

New Heidelberg press installations keep Southern Colour running strong.

Commencing this week, Southern Colour will be putting in two Heidelberg XL presses along with workflow upgrades as a part of its strategic business plan.

According to Southern Colour managing director, Rod Dawson, (pictured) this upgrade will ensure that the company “will enter into the next era of automated print production as true market leaders.”

Bucking the recent trend of cost-cutting and shying away from new investments, Dawson instead believes that such a move will have positive long-term effects for Southern Colour shareholders, staff and customers.

“Yes, it is a significant investment, but it provides us with a more sustainable model than we are running at the moment and has a lot of advantages for us and our customers,” he said.

Southern Colour has long shared a productive relationship with Heidelberg and has worked in collaboration with them to develop what Dawson believes is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s most technologically advanced printing facilities.

The changes also see long-time Southern Colour employee, Allan Gardiner, join the company’s board of directors. “Allan has been with us for over 10 years and is highly regarded in the industry. The Directors are delighted to have Allan on board,” Dawson added.

Dawson remains upbeat and confident of Southern Colour’s future in the face of a difficult economy.

“We will keep trying to improve all areas of our business and sometimes moments like these can create an enormous opportunity,” he said.
