Spicers launches new resource for paper purchasers

The 'Pablo' search engine is part of the paper merchant's new-look web presence, and allows users to search for a specific stock under a range of different categories. These include the application the paper will be used for, the finishing required and the colour and weight.

Rohan Dean, marketing manager at Spicers Paper, says that Pablo functions as a 'virtual sales rep', and is part of the company's effort to bring the personal touch of its sales team over to its online presence.

“Our methods of getting our marketing message out to the consumers has traditionally revolved around print, as our industry is about putting ink to paper,” says Dean. “But we came to realise that the web needs to be part of the marketing mix, and the two mediums have to go hand in glove.”

“Graphic arts is a one-to-one industry, and we have endeavoured to replicate that on our website with the creation on the Pablo character,” says Dean. “Like our sales team, he is available to help when you need it.”

The new website offers a number of other services, including supplies and dummies that can be created to suit specific requirements, as well as technical support that is supported by a behind-the-scenes team at Spicers.

An array of tips and tools are on hand through the site, as well as environmental fact sheets and information on a wide array of topics, including the recent FSC certification of the company.
