St Laurence’s College does its printing homework
Print queues for teachers are a thing of the past in Brisbane-based St Laurence’s College, as Océ assumes control of the school’s print room.
Taking responsibility for the school’s printing requirements under the terms of a print management contract, Océ has equipped the print room with PRISMAprepare software for prepress work and a VarioPrint 2100 to run alongside an existing Canon 5051 colour printer.
Paul Rigall (pictured), business manager of St. Laurence’s College, says the transfer of the school’s print services into professional hands was a logical step as it undergoes extensive expansion.
“There have been immediate financial benefits in that numerous areas of expense have been targeted to lower costs and provide efficiencies. We are now printing a much greater proportion of our requirements in house, a vast improvement over the past when the print room and even the teachers would seek outside suppliers for jobs.”

Teachers will soon be able to run print jobs from their desktops once PRIMAaccess is installed.
Now a printing hub, St Laurence handles printing projects for some of the other Catholic schools in the area and also produces work for a number of small businesses.
