Stamp of success for Southern Colour Print
Southern Colour Print's production of Singapore Post Collectors' Sheet gets the stamp of approval.
SCP printed a total of 8000 collectors' sheets in addition to the 22-million individual stamps from the 2007 Singapore Post Definitive Stamp series. These stamps were offset lithographic printed on 104gsm gummed stamp paper on a Heidelberg 102 CD Speedmaster and perforated on a Bickel Perforator.
Sean McMahon, managing director of SCP believes that the job has reinforced the company's international status in this sector. "Combining all 14 products together on the same sheet presented the challenge of making sure the colours of each stamp were the same as the individually-produced product," he said.
"Embedding the security features in the product posed a few technical challenges for the production staff."
McMahon said that the skill level required for the perforation stage proved especially challenging. "The collectors' sheet required eight passes through the perforators which is the most SCP has ever performed on one product," he noted.

The end result (pictured) has been rewarding not only for SCP, but also for Singapore Post, McMahon said. "Singapore Post also accepts tenders from a group of approved producers worldwide," he said. "On this particular occasion the tender from SCP met the delivery, cost and quality requirements of the tender."
The collector's sheet has been entered in the security printing section of this year's Pride In Print Awards.
