Ricoh Australia managing director John Hall has left the company and a search for his successor is underway.

Ricoh released a brief statement on Wednesday, one day after Hall’s exit from the company's headquarters at North Ryde, Sydney.

“Ricoh Australia managing director, John Hall will retire after 19 years, effective as of 31st January.

“In the past three years as managing director, John and his team have made significant contributions towards transforming and aligning the Australian business. The search for John’s successor is underway.

“In the interim, Kazuhisa Goto, managing director of Asia Pacific, will oversee the Australian business with the full support of the Australian executive team.  John has seen the business through a critical stage of Ricoh’s transformation and leaves the business ready for the next phase of growth.”

Ricoh Australia, a print vendor and IT services provider, last year reportedly cut at least six jobs from its IT workforce.

Hall, a printing industry veteran and former MD of Lanier Australia, had been part of the Ricoh Group leadership team since 2001 and was appointed MD in May 2014.

The move comes days after a management shakeup at the Tokyo headquarters of the Japanese multinational, with CEO Zenji Miura leaving the top job after four years, effective April 01, 2017. The new chief executive is Yoshinori Yamashita, currently director, deputy president in charge of core business and GM of Business Solutions Group.

Ricoh said in a statement: "Since Mr. Miura became president of Ricoh in 2013, the company, under his leadership, has been fully engaged in creating customer value through expanding its services and production printing businesses as well as fully launching its industrial business.  In addition, the company is tacking changes in the business environment such as the decline in growth of office printing. In the spirit of these initiatives and to further bolster the business and reinforce the earnings structure, the company is announcing a number of changes to its top management.

"Mr. Zenji Miura will resign as Representative Director, President and Chief Executive Officer and will be appointed as Corporate Executive Advisor as of April 1st, 2017.

Mr. Shiro Kondo will resign as a Representative Director and he will remain Chairman and Member of the Board of Directors as of April 1st, 2017.

Mr. Nobuo Inaba will be appointed as Chairman of the Board as of April 1st, 2017."

Last month, Ricoh acquired leading print MIS provider Avanti Computer Systems as it continued to target the production printing market.
