Supply side shows off Australia firsts at PrintWorks

Australia gets first look at new presses from Screen and Fujifilm at PrintWorks exhibition.

Printworks Post came hot off the press from the Screen Truepress Jet 520CP, which made its first public showing in the region today. Akira Hayakawa, managing director of Screen Australia told Print21 that the two exhibitions were a great way to show the machine’s versatility for different markets.

"PrintWorks and the Visual Impact Image Expo are mostly about inkjet – almost all wide-format digital printing today is inkjet, such as with our Truepress Jet2500UV for signage and displays. However, we saw the opportunity to show how inkjet crosses the boundaries between wide-format and commercial printing," he said.

Visitors have been impressed by the machine. “There’s a wide range of potential customers here from newspaper, to direct mail and book printers,” Hayakawa said. Wellington-based Astra Printing recently installed a Screen Truepress Jet 520.

Hayakawa has hopes for a local installation. “I hope there will be one in Australia soon,” he added.

Juergen Krufczyk, general manager, graphic systems, Fujifilm Australia, believes his company’s stand is home to the star of the show.

By that he is referring to the Uvistar, which went on show for the first time in Australia today, following its Fespa debut.

“It’s an exciting new machine for large-format inkjet printing,” Krufczyk (pictured below) said. “We believe there is a good market for the Uvistar in Australia. We’ve seen good interest in the machine.”

He named both the Acuity and euamedia presses on the stand as “stars also.”
