Canon Australia has been awarded a Gold Partner Award in the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage's Sustainability Advantage Program.
The NSW government program helps companies reduce costs while improving environmental performance and sustainability. Canon has been a member since 2009.
Yusuke Mizoguchi, managing director Canon Oceania, received the award from Gabrielle Upton, NSW Environment Minister. “It is exciting to see our philosophy Kyosei, which means living and working together for the common good, come to life and make a real difference to the environment and our community. We are grateful to the Sustainability Advantage Program for the recognition of Canon’s leadership and our commitment to collaboration with other businesses to reduce the environmental footprint of doing business,” Mizoguchi said.
Alice Cahill, manager strategic delivery at the Sustainability Programs Branch of the Office of Environment and Heritage, says the award is well-deserved and looks forward to working with Canon in the future. "Canon Australia has been recognised as a Gold Partner for their outstanding contribution to driving sustainability within the business community. Canon is one of just 15 organisations to have achieved Gold Partner recognition. Across the board, Canon is leading the way and breaking new ground on sustainable change within industry. Canon has driven collaboration between manufacturers which is now providing consumers with simple and effective methods of recycling products at the end of their life," Cahill said.
Canon was one of 26 partners recognised at the awards, from sectors including agriculture, manufacturing, education, aged care and utilities. It is one of just 15 Gold Partners of the program, which promotes environmental responsibility in the corporate sector. "The program does this by helping companies embed sustainability into their operations, improve productivity and reduce their use of raw materials, energy, water and waste," Cahill said.
