Christchurch label converter Kiwi Labels has won best in show at the Xeikon Digital Solutions Awards 2017, held in conjunction with Labelexpo Europe in Brussels.
Part of the Flint Group Print Awards, the Xeikon awards celebrate the best work produced on Xeikon digital presses. Kiwi Labels took out the top gong for its H2O Pure bottled water label (above), produced on a Xeikon 3300 press, with judges David Zwang and Deborah Corn unanimously praising the expertly-embellished entry.
"This is truly spectacular, it just jumps off the shelf. The various embellishment techniques elevate one another and culminate in the ultimate eye-catcher," the judges said in their comments. "This label truly allows both printer and customer to differentiate themselves from the competition. Amazing."
In an Instagram post, the Kiwi team expressed their pride that their hard work and creativity had been recognised: Innovation is our drive - we want to bring the latest and greatest to our wonderful clients. To be judged the best in the world is a testament to our dedicated team here at Kiwi Labels, and we can't wait to see the trophy back here in Aotearoa.
Kiwi wasn't the only New Zealand printer to be recognised at the awards, with Rapid Labels taking out Best Self-Promotion for an entry praised as "illustrating the true beauty of print quality done right". Australian printer NDP came second in the beverage category, the judges complimenting the use of multiple embellishing techniques.
