Sydney business makes a dash for new Oce VarioPrint 6160
FedEx Kinko’s closure gives Dashing Print room to move, and expand with new Océ VarioPrint 6160.
For some time, the North Sydney-based print-on-demand business had been experiencing a lack of floor space, which meant that investing in any new technology was not an option.
But when a FedEx Kinko’s store, located just two doors down, closed up as part of the franchise’s decision to vacate Australia, Dashing Print made a move for the space – literally.
“We were always cramped but we had a prime location in North Sydney,” said Russell Kavnat, managing director, describing the new 350 sq metre location that is twice as large as the previous address. “When the prime space became available, we decided to live up to our name and dash in.”
Making a run for it: the team at Dashing Print.

Following the move last month came in long-awaited installation of the VarioPrint 6160, which Kavnat reports went smoothly and without a hitch and is churning out 250,000 impressions a week.
“We had enough volume and demand for a production-style black and white machine,” he said.
“We are now set to take full advantage of the growth in digital print.”
