Telco prints half as much with Ricoh

Cutting the amount of print, paper and toner for customers is all in a days work for Ricoh. Instead of trying to increase throughput the document production company has not only slashed Australian Telco AAPT’s paper consumption but also printers and MFDs.

Jodie Black, property and facilities project manager at AAPT says when the rollout began the target was set to reduce operating costs¬, power, toner and paper by 10 per cent in the first year. “We achieved that almost immediately.

“And with the reduction in print size along with a continued focus on change management within the company, the Ricoh solution is enabling us to save almost 50 percent on document printing, copying and management.”

AAPT predict the document management partnership will incur savings of nearly $750,000 in reductions in power consumption, paper, toner and fleet size within four years. In just six months the savings include a 22 per cent reduction in paper alone.

Ricoh has reduced AAPT’s printer and MFD fleet by 50 per cent along with the implementation of Equitrac Office for fleet management and security, GlobalScan to streamline document scanning and routing and @Remote for fleet remote access and reporting.

Kathy Wilson (pictured), general manager business solutions and production at Ricoh Australia, says by understanding the business it has helped its customer change employees usage habits.

“Not only have they greatly reduced their carbon emissions, but they have realised improved business efficiency–saving them a significant amount of money and delivering a quick return on investment,” she said.
