Dscoop's Australia/New Zealand roadshow has hit Melbourne, bringing with it big-data guru Bill Wieners to show local printers how to make the most of data for their businesses.

After a successful showing in Auckland on Tuesday October 17, which was attended by about 50 people, the Melbourne leg of the roadshow was held at the Crown conference centre on Thursday October 19. The event featured Alan Dixon of Workflowz, plus keynote speaker Bill Wieners, president of Las Vegas-based printing house Digital Lizard, which recently installed the world's first HP Indigo 50000 digital press.

Approximately 35 people attended the Melbourne event, at which Wieners offered valuable insights on how printers can use data to enhance their businesses. "Printers are using their HP Indigo presses as a small version of their traditional presses. They're not really seeing the capacity or the ability to take it to a 'sticky' level with their customers.

"When you get into using data with your customers, you are now not bidding for a price job - you are connecting to your customer database, printing every day, pulling down data, and interacting with it on a dynamic basis," Wieners said, adding that this helps printing clients drive revenue and puts the printer on the customer's 'team'.

"If you're helping your customer make money, they'll always come back to you to make money," he said.

Jason Beckley, business development manager at HP, says HP and Dscoop are delighted to bring Wieners' expertise to HP Indigo users in Australia. "We've really tried to invest our time and money into local events. Australia is a long way from everywhere else, so it's really important to Dscoop and HP that we can find valuable information that the rest of the world is getting to see and bring it over here, in-country, in front of our customers," Beckley said.

The final event of the roadshow series will be held at the Park Hyatt Sydney on Monday October 23. For more information, visit http://dscoop.org/page/hp-dscoop-roadtrip-2017.
