PRINTEX07 confirms Fairfax online chief as forum panel member
On Thursday 24 May, journalist, author and former rugby player, Peter FitzSimons (pictured, left). Peter will moderate debate around the theme: Control Your Future – Insights and strategies for survival and success in an increasingly complex print industry environment.

Fairfax online editor-in-chief, Mike van Niekerk (pictured, right), will join printing industry leaders and innovators at The PrintEx Forums, taking place at PrintEx07, 24-26 May, Sydney Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Van Niekerk will offer his experiences and viewpoints into unravelling the controversial issues surrounding the digital evolution at The PrintEx Forum session, Digital Dilemmas-Making sense of the array of impacts, technologies and issues caused by living in, and supplying to, a digital world, on Friday 25 May, facilitated by Jennie Brockie (pictured).

Van Niekerk joins profile marketing managing director David Holton, RMIT semantic web researcher Gus Gollings and RMIT professor of law Margaret Jackson and Allan Robinson, general manager, letters, Australia Post to provide the keynote presentation for the session.
DES gets ready to unveil new technology at PrintEx
New DES technology will be displayed at this year's PrintEx exhibition.

Creative Folks–Productivity for profit tools
Creative Folks will be introducing two solutions for process and productivity management. For the first time in Australia, it will be demonstrating an enterprise job management solution with eMarketing, online approvals and automated catalogue production from Opix AG; as well as the internationally recognised workgroups suite of products for job management, vurtual tickets and collaborative proof approvals.
In another first for Creative Folks, WoodWing's award winning editorial solution, Smart Connection Enterprise for Adobe InDesign and InCopy will be demonstrated in its pre-release state for Adobe CS3.
Optimus–Leading MIS software on display
Visitors to the Optimus stand will see demonstrations of Optimus 2020 QuickSmart, which represents a huge step forward in MIS technology and features. Optimus 2020 QuickSmart builds on 24 years of MIS experience gained by Optimus since it launched the UK industry's first MIS modules in 1982. Recent new features include improved auditing and work-in-progress capabilities.

Entry-level CTPs to launch at PrintEx07
Small format printers can expect to see the latest in computer-to-plate (CTP) devices at PrintEx07, with industry heavyweights Dainippon Screen and Heidelberg announcing the launch of their latest entry level CTP technologies.
Also catering to the small format market, leading international manufacturer Heidelberg will launch the entry-level thermal CTP image set, Suprasetter A52, amongst a series of 'firsts' at PrintEx07.
"Expanding the highly successful Suprasetter range into the A3 market, the A52 brings manual and automated plate handling, as well as Heidelberg's renowned Prinext workflow, to small format printshops," said Soeren Lange, product manager prepress and workflow, Heidelberg.
