The winds of change: 10 January 2012

Industry movements kicking off the New Year see James Murphy cross the Tasman to lead Pitney Bowes Australia as its new managing director, plus Des expands its Melbourne team with John Federico, MBA.

Pitney Bowes poaches from within for top seat

A trans-Tasman promotion sees James Murphy cross the strait to lead Pitney Bowes Australian team as its new managing director.

Moving from a GM position at Pitney Bowes New Zealand, Murphy proved the natural choice for the position. According to Eric Yves-Mahe, president of Pitney Bowes growth markets. “His insight into Pitney Bowes’s business and goals will help further expansion of the Australian market.

“His proven track record in building businesses and relationships will prove invaluable in fostering the growth of Pitney Bowes’s solutions to new and existing customers in Australia,” he says.

The company has identified Australia as a key market, and will be launching new applications to strengthen its position here as a top provider in its global programme.

Murphy (pictured) will step into his new role in time for the rollout of Pitney Bowes’s new Growth Markets Solutions Factory due in 2012, following a series of innovative solutions launches like Connect+TM Series (new generation meters), intelligent lockers (Packaged Asset Deliveries) and LobbyTracTM (Visitor Management Solutions).

The challenge imposed by the new position will be to build the brands reputation in the local marketplace, which Murphy believes has a high level of customer satisfaction.

“There is a system in place to track this, and I want to ensure the provision of ‘great customer service’ is the top priority of all employees. It is important to me that every connection we make as a company is a positive one.

“Pitney Bowes is also currently an employer of choice in the Australian market, and I wish to continue this trend in offering our teams long term employment opportunities and growth within the company,” says Murphy.

DES expands its Melbourne team with MBA experience

The equipment merchant continues to expand its Victorian operations, with the addition of MBA qualified John Federico as its new grand format BDM.

Formerly a national service manager for Thycon Industries, with previous experience within Intergraphic Technologies and Kodak Australia, Federico is the latest addition to the Des team in Melbourne.

According to Russell Cavenagh, sales director at DES, Federico (pictured) brings a broad background and practical experience in Flatbed and R2R digital UV printing to his new role.

“John’s wealth of knowledge of the screen and digital printing industries and his experience will provide real benefits to new and existing customers.

“His understanding of grand format technology plus his practical experience allow him to relate at all levels, whether on the factory floor or in the boardroom”, he says.

An early adopter of R2R and flatbed grand format printing technology, Federico has seen several organisations grow by using screen printing presses and combining new technologies of R2R and flatbed digital UV printers.

“In the end it’s all about the customer and helping them to run profitable businesses”, says Federico.
