The winds of change: 15 April 2009

William Ng joins the HP Designjet team while Lindsay Somerville of ABC Books calls it a day.

New HP Designjet product manager
William Ng (pictured) comes onboard HP in the position of Designjet product manager, replacing Ben Ho, who is busy with being a dad.

Shane Lucas, director HP Graphic Arts South Pacific welcomed Ng to the team. “It is an exciting time for the digital print industry which is continuing to grow as Print Service Providers (PSPs) discover new markets to tap and new product offerings. His appointment comes in the lead to PacPrint and William will be at the show to meet with existing customers and visitors.”

Ng will be responsible for the HP Designjet large format range. The HP Designjet range of large format printers spans technical markets including architecture, CAD, GIS and engineering; fine arts and photography; proofing; and indoor and outdoor posters and displays.

“The HP Designjet range is extensive and caters for all applications,” said Lucas. “In his new role Ng will have the opportunity to work closely with customers to explore the opportunities for growth in this segment.”

Ng, who has not worked with HP previously, has a background in consumer marketing where he was previously employed as sales and marketing manager for Vivendi Games Mobile.

Final chapter for Lindsay Somerville
After 26 years with ABC Books, production manager, Lindsay Somerville, is retiring from the game.

Somerville’s retirement comes after the transfer to HarperCollins of the ABC Books business where his position was made redundant.

“I have enjoyed immensely my time at the ABC and witnessed many fabulous changes in the ABC and printing and publishing,” Somerville said.
