The winds of change: 16 October 2008
The printing industry has more people coming and going than an airport. This week, Print 21 takes a look at the flurry of changes that has occurred at Canon and Roland DG.
Marc keeps rolling on with Roland
After 18 years with the company, Marc Margetts has been appointed as managing director by the Roland DG board.
Margetts (pictured) assumed the acting managing director position in early 2008 and after a successful eight months of steering the company towards attaining its goals was approved by the company to embrace the position full time.
Margetts joined Roland DG in 1991 as the first on-road sales person for the company covering all of Australia to establish the brand while securing a dealer channel for the company.

"In those days, you had to be the sales guy, installer, service tech, dispatch and marketer," said Margetts.
"I now look forward to Roland DG's continued foray into new digital technologies to the market such as the recent launch of the world's first Print & Cut UV printer (LEC-300). I am honoured and look forward to the challenges that this new role will provide me and the team at Roland DG"
John Egan, chairman of the board, said that company was pleased to have Margetts take the reins. "Marc was a natural fit for the position," he said. "Marc's extensive knowledge of the business and industry is unsurpassed and provides him a unique insight to his role".
Jones keeps Canon firing
Wayne Jones has joined Canon as its new global major accounts relationship manager for the company's Business Imaging Solutions Group.
The latest recruit to BISG's channel marketing team, Jones (pictured) will be responsible for ensuring Canon Australia's business imaging solutions are well represented amongst the company's global major accounts so as to grow the company's footprint across Oceania.

"Canon has been one of my top five companies for a long time, based on its iconic brand name, its heritage and its impressive R&D. Since joining I have been inspired by the client-focused environment and level of proactive behaviour," Jones said.
Jones' experience includes senior sales and marketing roles in the IT, security and media sectors. He was previously with the IRD Group. He has an MBA from Southern Cross University. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, playing rugby union and tackling the Japanese number puzzle game, Sodoku.
"I've been made to feel very welcome at Canon and really look forward to using my experience to further relationships between customers, industry partners and Canon globally," Jones added.
