John Hockey hands over the books
For twenty-six years John Hockey has kept the books of the Federal Division of the Lithographic Institute of Australia. Now handing them over to Ron Jackson, he recalls a life in the Printing Industry which was much more than “keeping the books” John started his lifelong journey in the Graphic Arts at Waldon Engraving Company and from there he went on to hold leadership positions in a number of iconic companies in the graphic arts industry
Long time LIA member and close friend Bob Lamont, remembers John’s skills in step and repeat platemaking. John, he said “was meticulous in everything that he did in the work place and it spilled over in his role as a NSW LIA committee member and Secretary Treasurer for many years. In 1981 he assumed the added responsibility of Federal Secretary Treasurer a position which he carried out with his typical attention to detail and enthusiasm.”

In 1986 John and Beryl moved to Queensland with thoughts of sunshine, a more relaxed lifestyle and a senior position at Savage Graphics. With his wife Beryl he is now in full retirement and enjoying life on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
John is succeeded as federal secretary / treasurer by Ron Jackson, a teacher at the Queensland College of Printing.

Changes at Allkotes
Well-known industry identity, Tony Colella, has closed ten years service with Allkotes Turell to move over as national sales manager of JL Lennard. The newly-created position, reporting to director Norm Fizell, is just what I’ve been looking for, said Tony. “I had a great time at Allkotes over the years but it was time for a new challenge, time to move on. The people here at JL Lennards are true gentlemen, it’s an old-style company and everyone has been very nice to me,” he said.
Two weeks into the role and Tony reports that he is thoroughly enjoying himself.
Back at Allkotes, Darren Delaney has stepped into the breech as the new business development manager. “Tony was a bit of a mentor to me over the years and the parting was very friendly.
“I’ve had a number of roles with Allkotes, including running the Turella factory and I’m looking forward to the new marketing and business development challenges,” he said.
