Time running out for North Coast printers to register for SGP program
Printers in the NSW Hunter and North Coast regions have only a few days left to register for the first Sustainable Green Print (SGP) certification pilot outreach program.
The Sustainable Green Print (SGP) program guides companies to achieve environmental certification at a predefined level suited to their business resources and client needs.
Printing Industries national manager, learning and development, Ian Walz, said the first SGP outreach training would be run in Hamilton, Newcastle on 29-30 July 2010 covering both Levels 1 and 2 in a specially condensed program.
“We chose Newcastle for our pilot outreach program because of its diversity of business sizes and its central positioning for access by a large number of northern NSW towns including Armidale, Coonabarabran, Gunnedah, Inverell, Muswellbrook, Scone, Tamworth, Wyong and of course the Hunter region,” he said.
“Participating companies will have the option of doing the Level 1 entry level certification program or both Levels 1 and 2. Level 2 introduces additional levels of management and control including the tracking of waste streams and brings in a focus on a company’s energy consumption and carbon footprint.
“It is important that printing companies in these areas are given the opportunity of achieving SGP certification to set themselves apart from their competition and to save money by being better able to manage waste, recycling, energy and water use and air emissions.
“They can achieve all of these things and more by being able to demonstrate their commitment to environmental sustainability.”
