Time to start planning PICAs

The 2010 Printing Industries Craftsmanship Award (PICA) season is about to begin around Australia with states finalising their call for entry dates and presentation nights.

Printing Industries national communication and technical services manager, Joe Kowalewski, said it was important that companies start to identify their best work for entry into the state awards and not leave selection until the last minute.

“All entrants also need to familiarise themselves with the categories available and the descriptions accompanying those categories to ensure their jobs are entered correctly,” he said.

“Learning from last year’s awards it was apparent that some entries were incorrectly categorised and relevant information not completed or missing from entry forms, particularly where multiple entries were concerned.

“This year some of the state award forms have been re-designed and some categories changed to make them easier to complete and integrate with the National print Awards, so it’s important that whoever is completing the paperwork for companies takes the time to carefully read and complete the entry forms.”

Kowalewski said the Call for Entries dates would be progressively announced during the next few weeks and entry forms made available.

“Printing Industries members will receive the forms direct from their local Printing Industries office and full information, including downloadable forms, will be available in the Print Recognition Awards section of www.printnet.com.au along with and the results from previous PICA events.“
