Top 7 Day Print Industry News Clicks
The biggest story in the print industry this week was Print21's breaking news on Monday revealing the business smackdown ordered by Dan Andrews for Melbourne, with the fact that printing could carry on, albeit with the need for a Covid-safe plan.
Premier Andrews placed print in the category 2 – stay open – of his three industry identifiers, which was welcome news, although with retail, tourism, sport, and entertainment just a few of the sectors banned from operating there may be little actual printing required.
The second biggest story of the week was our exclusive on Direct Mail & Marketing entering voluntary administration. Run by the well regarded and popular Fred Humphreys, DMM has been a powerhouse for a decade, since it bought out Data Send.
Coming in at number three in terms of clicks was the Print21 story on Ovato seeking to walk away from its current enterprise agreement. The heatset giant is looking at a significant headcount reduction, and says its current EA was drawn up in a different time and is no longer feasible.
