Top End party for HP Indigo presses

Colemans Printing will celebrate the installation of its two HP Indigo 5500 digital presses with a major launch event on 17 Friday 17 February. The industry affair will be the first time the digital print technology is demonstrated in Darwin.

According to Tony Coleman, managing director, the investment in the HP Indigos comes down to the company’s belief that the Northern Territory is set to experience substantial growth opportunities.

“We’ve thought about making this move for some time now, and after extensive research and speaking with other HP Indigo users at the Dscoop event in Singapore last year, we are convinced that the HP Indigo technology is the platform on which to drive growth well into the future.

“The HP Indigo presses deliver enormous flexibility in the types of jobs we can take on and the substrates we can use, the speed at which we can go to market and the range of products we will be able to develop.” he says.

The installation signals the 57-year-old printer’s commitment to position itself as a high-end digital print provider. Before the two HP Indigo presses touched down in the Darwin print shop, Colemans’ Quick Print division only offered basic digital printing services.

Coleman notes that the print quality, speed and flexibility of the 5500s may well render his A3 presses redundant. “Offset is not a growing market for us, in fact I would say we are treading water.

“The way the industry is going if you don’t get on board now with a quality digital print offering you are going to be left behind with the dinosaurs,” he adds.
