Top six printers battle it out for LIA Heidelberg Graduate of the Year

Six high achieving young printers are in the running for this year’s NSW LIA Heidelberg Graduate of the Year award.

The short-listed include: Neil Hyde of Rawson Graphics; Matt Rutherford, CCS Media Packaging; Tim Bright, Carter Holt Harvey; Tim Ryan, Blue Star Print Group; Dane Kasunic, CSI Print and Tara Cotton, Westman Printing.

According to Allan Wetherell, LIA secretary and judging panel member, competition was just as tough this year. “Once again this year we have to choose one winner from six outstanding graduate candidates,” he said.

Wetherell praised the efforts of all who had been short-listed. “These young people have been put forward as excelling in their industry classification. As judges, we recognise their competency through their nomination by the teaching staff. Our challenge is to select a winner, who in the opinion of the judging panel exhibits the potential to become an industry leader.”

One past example of an industry leader is Gary Redman, who has been invited to be the guest speaker at this year’s awards. Redman will deliver a speech, ‘From Printer to NASA Award Winner’, detailing how he won the NASA 2008 Global University Student Design Competition.

This year’s LIA Graduate of the Year Award will be held on Tuesday 6 Mat at the Sydney Rowing Club, Abbotsford. Tickets are $75 and can be made by calling Lima Lole on 02 8789 7300 or info@printnet.com.au
