Two Indigos open new chapter for Opus print on demand
Cliff Brigstocke's Opus Print Group ramps up its POD power across Australia and Asia with two new HP Indigo presses.
According to CEO, Cliff Brigstocke, (pictured) the purchase of an HP Indigo 5500 and 7500 took considerable investigation before finally settling on the Indigo presses which the Currie Group has the agency for.
“The Indigos are proven in terms of their quality, colour and delivery,” Brigstocke explained. “We have been working with a number of global publishers who want the same quality and colour replicated over a number of jurisdictions and we want what we print in Singapore to be the same in
Sydney.”
The 5500 press went into Opus’ book printer, Ligare in Sydney with the 7500 currently in transit and set for COS Printers, which Opus acquired early last year, expected to be up and running by April. Brigstocke has already inspected the 5500 and is pleased by the results. “It’s giving us exactly what we need for short-run print-on-demand quality,” he said. “Colour is important to us as there has been a significant shift in publishers wanting to enhance their product with colour rather than monochrome.”
The double purchase is a big move for Opus but is, according to Brigstocke, only the beginning for a company that has been steadily on the acquisition path since it rebranded in 2008 (previously Knox Print Media).
“There are a couple of big events coming up this year,” Brigstocke said. “We will be having a big year, there’s no two ways about that and will continue gathering pace and leveraging off all business units.”
