Victorian PICA brings out the best for both states

The Victorian PICA awards, held in Melbourne on 19 October are designed to celebrate excellence in the print, packaging and visual communication industry and serve as a benchmark for establishing and challenging the quality of Victorian printing.

“The PICAs will celebrate achievements in the pursuit of excellence in print,” said Patterson. “Winners of this exciting industry initiative will be able to use their success to promote their superior ability in the marketplace.”

Patterson said that the Victorians PICAs were created as a response to their success in other states. “We believe it is high time Victorians had the opportunity to likewise showcase their craftsmanship,” he said.

As deputy chairman of the National Print Awards as well, Patterson hopes that the formation of the Victorian PICAs will see the two awards work together. “We will be aligning our categories to become part of the long-term evolution of the National Print Awards and hopefully finish up with a best-of-the-best awards long-term,” he said. “Over the coming months we can work together in developing a model for both awards in the future.”

Patterson recognised that the National Print Awards still has an important part to play and that, “we certainly don’t want to harm them in any way.”
