Edge Print, which grew out of the merger of three established printing businesses in north-eastern Victoria, says the future looks bright after a challenging first few months of operations.
"We've moved into a fantastic new factory in Mooroopna and things are looking good," said Russell Hall, director, Edge Print. “One of the major challenges has been to hold on to existing customers because all three original businesses have changed their names and addresses.”
Hall's Mooroopna-based Goulburn Valley Print Services late last year merged with Waterwheel Press in Kyabram and Prior Printing in Wangaratta to establish Edge Print. The three companies moved all manufacturing into a new purpose-built factory in Mooroopna but maintained offices in Kyabram and Wangaratta to service customers from those locations.
“We've faced some major internal changes in bringing three different cultures under the one roof,” said Hall. “People had different processes and different ways of operating so we’ve had to change the way we work. We’ve integrated three completely different computer systems and also improved our proofing and quality control operations. We’re also making all of our own plates now.
“We've rationalised some staff and sold off some extra machinery but Edge Print is now a bigger, better entity and we're able to offer our customers a full range of services ranging from wide format and signage to business cards and everything in between.
“It was a daunting prospect to put everything together but our staff has met those challenges superbly and the work is flowing through really well. We’re there now."
