Melbourne wide format operation Vivad has invested in Australia's first cold cure Durst 512R LED printer, and has appointed industry identity Matt Evans as its new national sales manager.

An upbeat Ewen Donaldson, owner of Vivad, is aiming for a strong start to the year, he said, “We launch into 2019 with gusto, we are excited about helping our customers meet their goals. In the first week we installed the new Durst five metre printer, and appointed a national sales manager. It is going to be an exciting 2019. Bring it on.”

Matt Ashman from Durst in Australia said, “The Vivad LED printer is only the fourth of its type in the world, using LED instead of traditional mercury vapour. LED delivers lower energy consumption, longer lamp life and wider substrate range.”

“Another major benefit to the Durst 512R is that it actually 5.3m wide not 5m. This means you can print three 1.6m rolls at once, or two 2.5m rolls, or a 3.2m and a 1.6m.

“It is a one person operation, and it will effectively print a shift without an operator. This means that the owner can go home at the end of the day knowing that the Durst printer will be producing work for hours to come.”

The new Durst 512R comes on the back of a new five metre cutting machine installed last year.

New Vivad national sales manager Matt Evans spent 20 years at Ricky Richards, mainly in sales and latterly in product development. He also had a brief spell at Orafol prior to joining Vivad.

Donaldson said, “Matt has always been a close colleague, and has a wealth of experience and knowledge in our industry.

“A well respected stalwart of the industry, he shares Vivad's passion for large format, with a focus on outstanding customer service and quality.

“He will be working in the areas of business development and sales management. He will be operating out of Sydney and will be expanding our presence in both New South Wales and nationally.”
