Warwick Roden takes the wheel at Business Achievements Awards
Roden (pictured right) takes over the position from Greg Grace, manager of the Print Media Academy at Heidelberg, who is stepping down after becoming Federal President of the Lithographic Institute of Australia.
“Greg made a major contribution getting these Awards established and involving major players from the industry in the judging process,” Roden says in tribute to his predecessor.
“I know Greg will continue to be a strong supporter of the Awards, as are Heidelberg, which has already indicated its intention to remain as sponsor of the Print NSW Business Achievement Award for Innovative Business Practices, won last year by JS McMillan.”
Roden was managing director of his family's printing company for more than 30 years. In this time the company achieved ISO 9002 accreditation, as well as winning the National Training Award in printing and telecommunications, and several National Print Awards for print excellence.
Becoming chairman of the Print NSW Business Achievement Awards committee continues his long-term involvement in graphic arts technology, as well as the development of trainees and graduates. In addition to participating on many TAFE advisory panels, Roden has been part of the LIA since its inception, serving both as president and chairman of the technical committee.
“I am very pleased to announce that Allan Wetherell, manager of the printing and graphic arts programs within TAFE NSW's Business, Arts and IT Centre, has agreed to continue as convenor on the judging panel for the Print NSW Business Achievement Award for education and training initiatives,” says Roden.
“Allan will join me on the Awards Committee. I look forward to announcing the names of the convenors of the other judging panels shortly.”
The Awards are supported by Printing Industries NSW, and will open in April and close in July with winners to be announced at a Gala Dinner on Friday 15 September 2005.
