Winds of change: 10 November 2010

In this week’s roundup, Neil Gomez gets down to business with Anitech’s finishing products, while Brad Creighton and his workmates embark on a hair-raising adventure, all for a good cause.

Gomez joins Anitech
Anitech has announced the appointment of Neil Gomez to the position of business development manager finishing products.

Prior to joining Anitech, Gomez (pictured) spent nine years with Drytac Europe in Bristol UK, including four years as managing director. Starting with Drytac as export sales manager, Gomez oversaw both the production and sales activities outside of the North American market for all the company’s lamination film and adhesive coated substrates.

Responsible for the launch of Drytac’s direct sales operation in the UK, Gomez was exposed to the wide-format finishing business throughout Europe and across numerous other international markets, including Australia. His international experience will see new and innovative solutions introduced to both the UV and aqueous-based liquid lamination product range in the Australian market.

“Developments within the finishing world are moving at a very rapid pace,” he said. “Both film and liquid lamination are now having to address the demands of new print technologies and environmental issues as well as offering value for money.”

Prior to his service with Drytac Neil worked for 13 years in the European arm of Hanimex’s photographic division.

Making a move on Movember
Brad Creighton, sales manager at DGS Mimaki, and his team of staff are leaving the razors alone for one month as they grow some facial hair for Movember.

While Creighton’s mo isn’t so visible at the moment (pictured), more impressive is the money that the team has raised – and it’s still early days. "At the moment it feels like life with a dirty top lip. I am hoping for a strong second week of growing struggling a bit at the moment," he said.

So far, the group of eight mo-growers – and one mo sister – have raised $660 for Beyond Blue and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.

“Remember, Movember is about raising funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer and depression in men. Close to 3,300 men die of prostate cancer in Australia each year and one in eight men will experience depression in their lifetime,” Creighton added.
