School's out for former primary school teacher Helen Walker as she begins an exciting new chapter in her career as accounts manager of RotoMetrics Australia.

In an exclusive interview with Print 21 she said, “I started to research RotoMetrics. I was really impressed to see that they are a global company who pride themselves on good customer service. I particularly liked that they offer local manufacturing and technical support. I felt like this showed the good integrity of the company, the fact that they offer a great service beyond the sale of a product.”

In what is a learning curve and breath of fresh air for Walker, she believes a combination of her customer service and organisational skills will make a difference.

“I have been amazed by what I have learned so far in this role, and all everyday things that I would have taken for granted before I started the job. I had no idea how big the industry was. But I've well and truly caught the bug now and annoy all my friends when I point to wine bottle labels, jam jar labels, pizza boxes and say - we sell the tool that has cut that out,” Walker said.

The biggest learning curve at the moment for Walker are the different types and specs of paper stocks. “The other day I saw a paper made out of stone dust. I'm flying out to Western Australia again next month to visit more customers there,” she said.

Walker has previously worked in women’s retail stores, and taught English in South Korea. Her decision to make a career change was made easy as she says Aussies are friendly and grateful for the service one provides.

She said, “I have always enjoyed using my knowledge, advice and resources to give the customer what they want. A quick phone call to another store is a five minute job for me, but saves hours of extra shopping for the customer. This applies to RotoMetrics, too. Sometimes it the smallest task that make all the difference to my customers.”

RotoMetrics is a supplier of rotary and flexible cutting dies, print cylinders and sleeves, adjustable anvils, die station modules and converting systems.
