Beacon Media's Simon Ellis has been appointed managing director of New Zealand's largest commercial printing operation PMP NZ.
Ellis is currently chief executive of Beacon Media Group and will take up his new role on 30 May. He has an extensive history in the printing and newspaper industry and is currently the President of NZ Community Newspapers Association.
A country boy from Taneatua in the Bay of Plenty, he was brought up by his mother and grandfather, the local publican. He entered the newspaper industry in 1979, working as a management cadet for INL at the Waikato Times where he received grounding in areas such as circulation, distribution, advertising and pre-press.
He later worked as northern regional manager for APN New Zealand (now NZME) and became CEO at Beacon Media Group in 2011.
PMP has annual turnover of $NZ150 million and includes Gordon and Gotch magazine distribution.
