Arin Tahmasian, an account executive at Upstream Print Solutions Sydney is this year’s recipient of Overseas Internship Grant valued at $15,000. He was presented with the grant by Adrian Fleming at a brief ceremony at PacPrint in Melbourne

Tahmasian will use the annual Grant to travel to the US to undertake a three week study tour to investigate trends in new technologies with a focus on how the US industry is using social media to engage customers and drive print.

Fleming congratulated Tahmasian on behalf of the GAMAA members saying, “When we implemented the GAMAA Grant we were looking for proposals that were forward-thinking and pushed boundaries. Arin’s proposal is innovative, challenging and we anticipate he will come back with some great insights that will benefit the industry and also contribute to Arin’s own personal growth”.

On receiving the good news Tahmasian said he was thrilled to be chosen for the study grant. “This grant will allow me to focus on an area of expertise that has long been a passion of mine. I plan to use this opportunity to meet key stakeholders in foreign markets and to accelerate my learning by leveraging off their experience and their countermeasures. Working in a geographically secluded market occasionally impacts the professional development opportunities that may exist in the North American and European markets. This grant will allow me to entrench myself in the methods used by my peers within those markets and I am extremely pleased to be the 2013 GAMAA Grant recipient”.

“I am passionate about new media as ‘Print Volumes in Decline’ has become a common theme across our industry in recent years. Technology has been the biggest catalyst of this change, and understanding how foreign markets have counteracted this trend will no doubt help better prepare the Australian Print Industry in navigating this decline, and identifying opportunities within”, he concluded.
