Women roar at drupa 08
Heidelberg brings women from around the world together through an international Women in Print meeting at this year's drupa.
Women in Print is aimed at women in management positions within the print media industry and is scheduled to begin at 9.30 a.m. in the Sternberg Lounge, next to the Heidelberg Halls 1 and 2.
The event has gained an international flavour for the first time and aims to provide women executives with a common platform for sharing their experiences and ideas. Speakers include Marian Salzman from J. Walter Thompson and Shelly Gare, who has worked for newspapers and magazines in England and is now employed as a journalist in Australia. Gare was also a speaker at the Australian Women in Print events in March 2008.

Glenn Plummer, general manager of marketing and product management has high hopes for achieving a strong attendance. "It's great to see this initiative go global and terrific recognition for an Australian woman to speak at the drupa event," he said. "We expect around another dozen or so Aussie and Kiwi women will join the event while they are at drupa."

As an industry, printing is renowned for being male-orientated, but Adriana Nuneva, head global marketing at Heidelberg hopes the initiative will shake off such perceptions. "I am positive that Women in Print will define completely new directions for women in the print media industry worldwide. The global network of the Print Media Academy of Heidelberg can provide invaluable support in achieving this," she said.
Applications to attend the event can be submitted here until May 21, 2008.
