World-class customer support from Heidelberg

Heidelberg Australia & New Zealand (HAN) continues to build on its promise to deliver world-class service and support to its customers in the region through its commitment to maintaining a strong contingent of experienced personnel in its service departments.

This philosophy is clearly demonstrated in Heidelberg’s ongoing relationship with Sydney printer, R. Hogan & Sons.

Having survived the ups and downs of the printing industry for more than three decades, R. Hogan & Sons continues to prosper and expand its customer base with continued assistance from Heidelberg.

Keeping up with the latest in technology, this Sydney-based commercial printer has recently installed a Heidelberg Speedmaster 74-5 colour press (SM74-5) to more efficiently service its existing multi-colour customers.

Ignoring the old adage - ‘out with the old and in with the new’ - the company has chosen to keep its Heidelberg GTO presses, entering into a service agreement with Heidelberg to ensure that these work horses continue to perform at their optimum as director, Peter Hogan explained.

“We’ve had a long and profitable relationship with Heidelberg. Our confidence in the company’s equipment and their back-up service and support means that we can grow at our own pace, incorporate new equipment into the production workflow and utilise our existing equipment to the best of its ability. The GTO’s are good presses and the service agreement offered by Heidelberg ensures that they will keep producing well into the future.”

In what is typical of Heidelberg’s service and support, recently R. Hogan & Sons was broken into and key press-press equipment stolen. “Thieves took the Heidelberg RIP as well as our two Macintosh computers. Within 24-hours Heidelberg had installed a demonstration unit of the RIP as well as two replacement computers so that we could reopen for business,” explained Hogan.

Today R. Hogan & Sons is run by the third generation of Hogan’s, servicing a range of corporate and agency-based clients and producing a variety of materials spanning jobbing work through to high quality four and five colour productions.

“The installation of the SM74-5 has enabled us to improve our productivity by more efficiently producing an increased volume of four colour with varnish or five colour work,” said Hogan. “We are running the SM74-5 at 15,000 an hour on most jobs without any deviations in quality. The prepress interface and autoplate feature ensures we can complete our make-readys in record time.”

“It is important to us and our customers that we are a Heidelberg shop. High quality work produced quickly and efficiently has seen our business survive the past 30 years and the Heidelberg solution, backed-up by excellent sales and service, has always ensured that we have been able to achieve these standards,” he concluded.

“There is no doubt that Heidelberg’s focus is on our customers,” says Andy Vels Jensen, Managing Director of Heidelberg Australia and New Zealand. “Our commitment to maintaining first class service procedures and ensuring we have the right people to carry out our service obligations with customers has contributed to Heidelberg being a world leader in the printing industry.”
