Zero tolerance for ambush marketing at PacPrint
Organising committee for the trade show declares it will not stand for companies using the exhibition to promote their own agendas without contributing to the overall success of the show.
According to Adrian Flemming, chairman PacPrint, people feel strongly about protecting the integrity of the four-yearly event. He believes ‘ambush marketing’ poses a real threat to the ongoing viability of PacPrint.
“It’s just not fair. Supply companies invest their money in exhibition stands and are looking for a fair return. If everyone decided it was cheaper and easier to come along without contributing we’d have no PacPrint,” he said.
Rules are in place to prevent unauthorised marketing or touting for business at the show. Individuals who breech the rules will be asked to leave the exhibition while others who may have flagged their intentions will be denied entry.
“We’re all committed to making PacPrint a great success. We don’t want to see its future under threat from ambush marketing,” said Flemming.
PacPrint opens tomorrow at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre with the organisers predicting a good turnout on the basis of enthus9iastic pre-registrations. The show, which runs for four days, is as much a networking opportunities for the industry as it is about discovering the latest advances in printing technologies.
