Currie Group has bolstered its technology portfolio for flexible packaging with exclusive distribution agreements for Uteco and Bimec in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, expanding its offering in high-end flexographic, gravure and digital printing systems, and slitter-rewinder technology for the flexible packaging sector.

Through two new agency appointments, Currie Group will now represent Uteco’s full range of flexographic, rotogravure and digital presses, laminators and coating lines, and Bimec’s precision slitter-rewinders used in film, paper and laminate conversion. The partnerships place Currie Group at the forefront of the region’s growing flexible packaging market, combining advanced European engineering with local service expertise.

Both OEMs are cornerstone members of the European Flex-Converting Alliance (FlexCA), alongside CMG, ENCA, Smartjet and Vision, enabling customers to integrate complementary systems from a single, unified supply network.

Currie Group’s director – Labels & Packaging ANZ, Mark Daws, said the agreements mark an important step forward for the company’s packaging and converting customers.

“Flexible packaging is certainly an area where we are seeing massive growth, and these new agreements represent a significant step in expanding our offering to the higher-volume converting sector by adding the unique value proposition offered by Uteco, Bimec and the wider FlexCA alliance,” Daws said.

“These new partnerships allow for a collaborative approach where we can pull in products and resources from any, or all, of the alliance members to create solutions driven by each customer’s needs and objectives,” Daws said.

Currie Group has already built a strong base in labels and flexible packaging through partnerships with leading OEMs, and its technical service network was a key factor in securing the new representation. The company has collaborated closely with outgoing agents Flexo Australia and Web Dynamics to ensure a smooth handover.

Reno Lauriola will join Currie Group from Flexo Australia, while Jade Gillard will step away from the Bimec agency to pursue other business interests.

Daws said that by combining Uteco’s and Bimec’s technology with Currie Group’s extensive technical capability, the company can deliver high-performance solutions for printers and converters moving into more advanced and automated packaging production.

“These agreements strengthen our ability to provide complete, end-to-end solutions for our customers – from print and finishing to post-press and service support,” he said.
