DRUPA VIDEO DAY 6: KONGSBERG

In its first drupa as a standalone business, Kongsberg Precision Cutting Systems is debuting advanced new robotics, and what it claims is next generation digital cutting technology.

The new Kongsberg Ultimate is aimed at corrugated production. It has a new drive technology, an acceleration rate of up to 2.74G and a cutting speed of 168 metres per minute. With its custom carbon fibre beam, Kongsberg says the Ultimate ensures stiffness, and consistently applies a 50kg downforce. It also says the tool head camera elevates its precision, “making every cut align perfectly” with the highest industry standards.

According to Kongsberg the new seven-axis, rail-mounted Robotic Material Handler system provides “significantly” greater reach and flexibility, increasing the freedom to design the layout of a production cell to match customer needs.

On the Kongsberg stand, David Preskett outlines the new developments to Print21 editor Wayne Robinson, and says why they are important for print businesses looking to increase efficiencies.
