Jet Technologies has demonstrated the creative and technical scope of UV flexo printing in a collaboration with dessert brand Wicked Sister, producing high-impact foil lidding for a limited-edition packaging range tied to Universal Pictures’ Wicked: For Good, premiering this month.

Working from artwork developed by creative agency Cupla, Jet Technologies reproduced the film’s intricate green-to-pink gradient logo on a reflective black background  a demanding task in colour management and substrate control. The design required precise alignment of print, embossing and foil reflectivity to maintain legibility and brand fidelity under retail lighting.

“Capturing that colour transition while ensuring legibility on a reflective foil surface required close collaboration,” said Tristan Ulloa-Jonsson, business development manager at Jet Technologies. “Our in-house expertise in lidding materials and print calibration meant we could overcome those challenges and produce a result that truly stands out on shelf.”

Printed in UV flexo on Jet’s PP Peel foil, the lidding combines strong shelf appeal with functional performance. The substrate offers a wide sealing temperature window and consistent peel characteristics, ensuring product protection and smooth opening for consumers.

To achieve uniform colour across the full production run, Jet employed Lab Colour Measurement to numerically define and monitor colour values – a process ensuring that every lid matched the approved brand palette precisely. Embossing, integrated into the print pass, added tactile dimension and enhanced the premium aesthetic.

For Wicked Sister, the lidding became a bridge between packaging design and brand storytelling. “We wanted packaging that captured the magic of the movie while maintaining our product’s premium look and quality,” said Pedro Demartini, director of marketing at Wicked Sister. “Jet Technologies’ lidding delivered on both fronts, offering vibrant print quality, food-safe materials, and complete reliability from start to finish.”

The project underscores how tight colour control, material knowledge and collaboration between printer, designer and brand owner can transform packaging into a complete visual and sensory experience.
