The sustainability theme this month continues as we celebrate the outdoor Innovator of the Year award winner, Nigel Spicer, of Cactus Imaging, for the new Smart Skin billboard media.

We also discuss the ins and outs of Trimatt receiving the APPMA's Excellence of Australian Manufacturing Award for its Cardline 7000 system.

Excitingly, we discuss the first new printing plant to have opened in Australia for several years, ePac. The shortage of skilled workers, an issue exacerbated by the recent removal of print apprenticeships from the Australian Apprenticeships government priority list, is also highlighted.

Following this we explore the launch of Heidelberg's cloud-based Prinect Direct, which is helping to automate both production and administration, and will ultimately lead to print buyers effectively inputting all the data for the job, with the workflow scheduling the job.

Finally we look at the impact the Ukrainian war has had on their print industry and what can be done to support the companies and their staff.
