LAMONT MOVES TO MESH WITH HP LATEX 3600

Trade printer Lamont Print & Signs can now offer a 72-hour turnaround on fence mesh to its Queensland resellers, with the purchase of its new high volume industrial HP Latex 3600 printer, installed by Smartech.

According to the Townsville-based printing company's founder, Stephen Lamont, the new HP Latex will be put to good use by its latest fence mesh busIness, Fenceprint.

He said, "This HP Latex 3600, which is specifically designed for printing fence mesh, has an advanced extraction system, and can use HP optimiser technology for high-speed, high-resolution printing onto mesh.

"It is particularly beneficial to us as it provides a dedicated printing platform that can print unattended overnight. It positions us with a printing capability to service the high-volume mesh markets and any and all client requirements, while its speed allows us to offer them our 72 hour turnaround guarantee," says Lamont, confirming that the installation and training of the high volume industrial printer was completed by Smartech, which is providing ongoing support and servicing, in partnership with HP.

The new HP Latex 3600 will complement the company's two HP Latex 1500s and HP Latex R1000 printers, previously installed and supported by Smartech.

"The HP 3600 sits in line with the rest of our printer fleet using the same inks, rip processor, media settings, loading and print procedures. Using the same water based ink platform as the other latex printers, it positions us as a green alternative to what is usually a UV or solvent printed material," explains Lamont, pointing out that the new printer can also be utilised to supplement the company's existing machines when they are at capacity, and will produce the same "excellent" colour and quality of the other latex printers, but offers higher print speeds across various print media types, such as banner and self-adhesive vinyl.

The mesh can be manufactured to any length and height, and can produce a variety of finishing inclusions, he says.

Fenceprint was launched in 2021 during Covid, and as a dedicated trade printer of mesh, Lamont identified the need to provide a marketing vehicle to assist its Queensland resellers to promote the Fenceprint brand confidently and quickly as a trusted product line.

"Our business is helping their business," says Lamont, adding that there are plans underway for Fenceprint to expand to other regions, and that there are exciting things in the pipeline to push the new company in that direction.

He says that due to the print quality and speed of the HP latex 3600, kilometres of "incredibly impressive" jobs, have been printed, using only water based inks, which are helping Lamont's reseller clients increase their sales.

Lamont Print & Signs, a family owned and operated trade printer, was established in 2005 by Stephen Lamont, who was joined by his son Daniel soon after.
