Owners Frank and Tanya Mezo have ordered a new Durst P5 350HS D4 hybrid flatbed and roll-to-roll printer, a new swissQprint Kudu, also a hybrid flatbed and roll-to-roll printer, from local supplier Pozitive, and a new Elitron pallet-to-pallet robotic finishing line.

The company has already bought the building next door to its current facility in Dandenong South, and will use it to house its entire finishing operation, moving its existing finishing equipment out of its current building, with the existing facility dedicated to print, including the new Durst and the new Kudu.

Frank Mezo said, “We invest in quality production solutions, in order to provide our customers with a quality service. We are confident in the market, and in our ability to service it. The investment in print and finishing will take us forward.” Mezo primarily services retailers, through print management agencies, and other printers.

The 3.5m wide Durst P5 350HS D4 can print up to 650sqm an hour, and will be aligned with the new Elitron, which means that Mezo will be able to see a pallet of clean stock printed, cut and stacked without human touch. It will be the first P5 350HS D4 installed in Australia, and is the fourth Durst that Mezo has installed.

The swissQprint Kudu has ten colour channels, the most of any swissQprint system, with three rows of printheads, and can pump out up to 300sqm an hour. It is the first swissQprint for the company. Frank Mezo said, “Quality and speed have intersected on this new printer from swissQprint. We will use the extra two channels to print fluoro.”

Mezo Graphics currently has 52 staff working in the business. It is celebrating its 30th year, having started as a screen printer before transitioning to digital wide format. It is primarily a trade printer, serving other printers and print management companies, with a nationwide reach. It was Stream Solutions' supplier of the year for five years running.
