The XPJ-1462-UF was shown at Fespa Munich in May, where according to Mutoh ANZ managing director Russell Cavenagh, “it generated a lot of interest”. He described the promotional products sector as “strongly growing”.

Designed to produce high volume braille signage, promotional items, industrial and personalised print, Mutoh says the new XpertJet XPJ-1462UF combines high productivity and high image quality to meet diverse user needs.

Cavenagh commented, “With its larger bed area, and higher speed, the XPJ-1462-UF dramatically increases the amount of pieces you can produce per hour at a lower unit cost”.

The XpertJet 1462UF is a flatbed UV-LED printer, with a table size of 1,420 x 700mm, which Mutoh says combines high productivity and high image quality to meet diverse user needs.

The XpertJet 1462UF is equipped with two newly developed 4-inch UV-LED lamps and staggered dual print heads with independent CMYK and white/varnish for faster two-layer printing. The company says the rigid and precise chassis and Mutoh's aluminium rail mechanism deliver ink dot placement accuracy.

The printer supports media up to 1,420 x 700mm, 150mm thicknesses, and 50sq kg per metre in weight. The table unit is equipped with a four zone vacuum table with four-stage suction force control, and service holes for fixing jigs, allowing greater flexibility in media selection.

According to Mutoh the staggered dual print heads ensure high productivity. The first head prints CMYK, the second head prints white/varnish, which enables two-layer printing without speed loss. It is also suited for braille and 2.5D structure prints.
It uses a new ink set, US61, a newly developed environmentally friendly UV ink. The ink complies with the latest chemical substance regulations in the EU, and the ink is free of substances classified as CMR Category 1* (1A, 1B) and SVHC (substance of very high concern). According to Mutoh, the ink also combines “flexibility" and “scratch resistance" at a high level, which have been trade-offs in conventional UV inks, making it suitable for a wide range of applications.
