The most clicked story in the local industry this week was the Print21 report on Ovato getting its rescue scheme approved by its creditors, a result that will now see the creditors get 50 cents on the dollar, its Clayton site closed, and $40m injected into the company.

Ovato suffered a $109m loss in the 2019-2020 financial year, seeing its sales fall by $130m to $593m. The closure of Clayton will mean the loss of 300 jobs. The printing will be transferred to Warwick Farm.

The second biggest story of the week in ANZ print was the cancellation of the mother of all trade shows drupa. Usually the Mecca for Aussie and Kiwi printers, and due to take place in April having been postponed from its original June date, the organisers pulled the pin as the German government said stricter lockdowns may continue into the new year. The next drupa will run in 2024.

Coming in at number three for the week in most clicked stories was Print21's report on the region's first HP Indigo 100K, the 6000sph B2 digital press, which has been installed by the country's largest trade printer, CMYKhub. It is the first HP Indigo 100K to be installed in the entire Asia Pacific. Kudos to the local industry.
